A Rare Sunny Day

These are some photographs from a sunny day last week.  It was the first time the sun had popped through in a week.  I decided to see how the Minolta 50mm f/1.7 would handle flowers and was quite happy.

We had one good day last week weather wise.  It have been dreay here in New England for a week and we another week to go it seems.  For this shot I used the light of the sun coming in faintly from the right.  I like to get under the flower and us the sky as the backdrop.   This makes for some interesting lighting.

I was able to achieve good focus on this shot.  Trying to shoot a cresent was the important thing.  It is less bright than a full moon and provided more natural contrast.

Finally got a chance to try a Luna shot.  I have been wanting to get out, but the weather has not cooperated.  The full moon is not the best time to shoot our closest neighbor, but I tried my best.  Focusing is really touch, but this is the best of my 15 or so shots.  Thank God for digital!

This was taken with the Sony A100 hooked up to the Orion 80ED refractor mounted on my new WO EZ Touch mount.  The EZ touch is super stable compared to my old EQ1.

Sarah’s First Communion

Posted on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 9:34 pm

This is an overdue post from the last days in India.  As I was part of the ceremonies, I did not get to take too many pictures, but managed a few.  I like these two the best.  Sarah had the least understated of the dresses.
